City to Increase Police Patrols This Weekend

City officials say they are working with other agencies to up their policing efforts for the weekend. During the past two weekends, Hermosa Beach has had sexual assaults, robbery and stabbing incidents.

Police in Hermosa Beach are working with regional and neighboring policing agencies to further increase patrols in the city this weekend, said City Manager Tom Bakaly late Thursday.

Hermosa Beach police increased patrols last weekend in response to Labor Day weekend incidents that included the stabbing of two men on Pier Plaza and a robbery and assault in the 100 block of 21st Street.

For last weekend, HBPD basically doubled its patrol numbers, having 6 to 7 officers on duty at any given time, beginning around 7 p.m. Friday and ending around 3 a.m. Monday, according a city spokesperson.
