Fashion Show and 'African Cats'

Earth Day on Friday includes a Disney movie and fashion show for juniors. Plus, Coast Music Conservatory to hold an open house.

 

Fun begins Friday with a charitable fashion show, and roaring Earth Day film. Music students also will be able to tour the Coast Music Conservatory. Here are some of the weekend happenings for local families.

Fashion Show

With an "under the sea" theme, the latest trends and looks in high school fashion will be showcased at the Sandpiper Juniors annual fashion show Friday at the Hermosa Beach Playhouse. A raffle and silent auction begins at 6 p.m. to benefit the volunteer organization. The fashion show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $15.

Earth Day Movie

In celebration of Earth Day, Disneynature's family-friendly wildlife documentary African Cats opens Friday at the new ArcLight Cinemas Beach Cities nearby in El Segundo. Samuel L. Jackson narrates the film about a young lion family and cheetah family struggling to survive in the African wilderness.   

Young Musicians Open House

The Coast Music Conservatory on PCH is hosting an open house Saturday for young musicians interested in its summer program. Parents and students will be able to view the facilities, meet faculty, and audition for the institution. The open house will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 12 pm.
