Landmark Hermosa: Chamber of Commerce

If you guessed the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce for this morning's trivia, you were right.

The Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce this year celebrates its 100th anniversary, executive director Maureen Hunt announced in a letter on Patch in January.

The chamber was established in 1912 and has remained active ever since, according to the  book Hermosa   Beach by Chris Miller and Jerry Roberts, which adds that to celebrate the year of its inception, the chamber once organized a festival called "1912 Days."

During the annual 1912 Days celebration, local businesses sold items for the price tag they would have had in 1912—for example, a glass of beer was only 5 cents, a cup of coffee was a nickel, and a haircut would cost 20 cents.

Now "the chamber is excited to continue our role as an ambassador in  promoting Hermosa Beach to visitors from around the country and around  the world as the wonderful and beautiful place that it is," Hunt wrote.

Congratulations Duke Noor for correctly guessing today's Landmark Hermosa. We'll have a new trivia next week.
