Toss Toxic Trash in Hermosa Beach Roundup
The hazardous and e-waste collection event is set to kick off at Clark Stadium on Saturday.
Hermosa Beach has been selected to host a Los Angeles County hazardous and electronic waste collection this weekend—and all South Bay residents are invited.
The event, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., is an opportunity to drop off any toxic waste you might have in your home, such as unwanted computers, paint and other household hazardous items (see additional details from the county under photo.)
"If you haven’t ever seen this, we shut down Valley and it’s a 'drive-thru,' so you drive through and they pick up your box," said Hermosa Beach City Councilman Michael DiVirgilio during a council meeting Tuesday. "They make it about as easy as possible."
Similar to when the trash collection took place in Hermosa last year, residents with waste can drop them off at Clark Stadium on Valley Drive, between 8th and 11th streets.
"It was really convenient," Redondo Beach resident Tom Krenzke told Patch last year when he brought a single halogen bulb to the event. "I just rode my bike down here and dropped off the stuff I had."
