The Getty Center Excursion

Your day at the Getty Center starts with a tram ride to the summit, taking in unexpected views of the historic Sepulveda Pass. Upon arrival you have the option to view a brief introduction video to learn about the day’s programs and exhibits. After the video you are free to experience all the Getty has to offer at your own pace. You’ll see paintings by many of the most familiar masters-Rembrandt, Goya, Monet, and Cezanne, to name a few.  For lunch, you are welcome to bring you own sack lunch to enjoy outside of the museum or you may have lunch at the café located within the Getty that features an extensive menu including sandwiches, soups, salad, pizza, tacos and burritos, and grilled items.

Excursion meeting place is the Community Center, 710 Pier Avenue, Hermosa Beach, California, 90254. Letters will be sent to all registered participants approximately one week before excursion date to confirm departure and return times.

The Community Resources Department maintains a number of city-owned facilities, including 23 local parks and also organizes the annual live musical performances known as the Hermosa Beach Sunset Concert.

Other open spaces cared for by the city are two pedestrian paths, including the 19.5-acre Greenbelt Trail and The Strand, a mile-long path designed for walking and biking.

A gym, two tennis courts, skate park and a lawn bowling field are managed by the Community Resources Department, as well as the as the Hermosa Beach Civic Theatre and Clark Building.

A number of city-sponsored activities are offered throughout the year, and a schedule of them is available at the department's main office.

The Community Resources Department is currently without a director and a hiring freeze has been placed on the position.
