Important Mineral For All - Calcium

Calcium, we all lose some every day, it is also the mineral that help us maintain strong bone health as well as possibly protect us against certain cancer.  Therefore, it is absolutely vital for us to have enough calcium intake.

Milk and dairy products are conventional foods that contains calcium, but there are misconceptions that only these products provide us with calcium.  That is far from the truth.  Vegetables such as Chinese cabbage, kale, and broccoli all contain Calcium.  Soft boned canned fish like pink salmon and sardines are also a great source for the mineral as well.  It is important to note that the body need Vitamin D to absorb calcium.

For older adults, they are at more risk of bone fractures that can potentially become dangerous to their health.  We urge you to change your diet up to get enough calcium in your life.  Consult your doctor or dietitian for more help.
