League of Women Voters Explains Changes in Education Funding

For the first time in 40 years, California is changing its funding formula for K-12 public schools. Effective July 1, 2013, after many years of research, policy development and community input, Governor Brown signed the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) into law.  With the implementation of LCFF, each school district must work with parents and other community stakeholders to develop a Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP).  This plan will outline intended outcomes and guide each District on the expenditure of the new monies available to them.

The League of Women Voters Beach Cities is co-sponsoring a public forum to provide information on the upcoming funding changes.  The event will provide background information and include a panel of superintendents & administrators from local school districts to outline what it means to the children and families in our communities.
