City to Celebrate Arty Bike Racks

It’s a big weekend for Hermosa Beach as artisan bike racks will be officially unveiled to the community, and another Pier-to-Pier run comes to town. Here are some local happenings you won’t want to miss.

Pier-to-Pier Trek

Where and when: Hermosa Beach Pier; Saturday, 7 a.m.

Where and when: Adventureplex, 1701 Marine Ave., Manhattan Beach; Saturday, 10:30 a.m.

Why go: Recycle your gently used children’s clothing, enjoy Adventureplex with the family, and take home summer essentials for the kids . Leftover clothing goes to charity.

Price: $5 plus clothing to swap

Bike Racks Unveiled

Where and when: 14th Street and the Strand, Hermosa Beach; Saturday, 11 a.m.

Why go: Check out , which will debut in different locations around the city. The new racks, in the shapes of waves or surfboards, are to encourage earth-friendly travel around town.

Redondo Triathlon

Where and when: Veteran’s Park, 309 Esplanade, Redondo Beach; Sunday, 7:30 a.m.

Why go: Do you have what it takes? features a half-mile ocean swim, six-mile bike ride and two-mile scenic run. Commemorative awards will be given to the top three participants in each division.
