Community Invited to Discuss Playground

A potential contractor for the new accessible playground at South Park will speak to the community at a meeting tonight.

The committee working on developing the new playground for South Park in Hermosa Beach is holding a meeting tonight for a presentation by Natural Playgrounds, a potential vendor.

According to committee member Beth Rohrer, the committee has met with other vendors.

"The difference [with Natural Playgrounds] is that it's all natural," she said about the company presenting tonight.

Last month the committee held a contest in which city students submitted their ideas about what they think would be a good playground.

"We looked at all their ideas," Rohrer said, adding that they were placed on a spreadsheet. "So we have a tally."

The most popular idea seems to be a treehouse of some sort.

The playground will replace what is now a skating rink and community garden. Rohrer said that the garden is already re-locating. The future playground will not only provide an area for children between the ages of 5 to 12, but will be fully accessible for children with disabilities.

The meeting runs from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Hermosa Beach Community Center Theater, 710 Pier Avenue. Attendees should enter the theater through the western entrance off the courtyard, as the lobby will be in use for another event.

Freedom is based on a sure identity, that I know who I am, but more importantly WHOSE I am. WhenRead More the LORD sent Moses to deliver His people, that was the beginning of their liberty. They were a particular people to the LORD, whose name is better understand as "He who was, is, and always will be." Not a god made of stone or wood, but the One who made, makes, and evermore makes and gives to us: the LORD took Israel by the hand and led them from bondage to slavery. Not who you are, but whose you are, makes all the difference between bondage and liberty: "For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father." (Romans 8: 15) Have you been adopted yet? "
