38th Annual South Bay Interfaith Thanksgiving Service

The holiday season is upon us once again and amid the hustle and bustle of this busy time of year it's important to take a minute to reflect on what matters the most in our lives. There is no better way to do that than to join with others in a show of faith and thanksgiving at the 38th Annual South Bay Interfaith Thanksgiving Service on Tuesday, November 23 at 8 p.m. with a prelude concert including dance and musical performances beginning at 7:30 pm.

Representing a number of faith traditions, this annual pre-Thanksgiving holiday service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse located at 22605 Kent Avenue in Torrance.

The featured guest speaker is Father Alexei Smith of Saint Andrew Russian Greek Catholic Church and Saint Paul Melkite Greek Catholic Mission in El Segundo, California. The service will feature an interfaith choir directed by Ms. Lynn Bateman.  Proceeds from the evening's charitable offering will be donated to the Children's Law Center.

A reception will be held following the service.

Freedom is based on a sure identity, that I know who I am, but more importantly WHOSE I am. WhenRead More the LORD sent Moses to deliver His people, that was the beginning of their liberty. They were a particular people to the LORD, whose name is better understand as "He who was, is, and always will be." Not a god made of stone or wood, but the One who made, makes, and evermore makes and gives to us: the LORD took Israel by the hand and led them from bondage to slavery. Not who you are, but whose you are, makes all the difference between bondage and liberty: "For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father." (Romans 8: 15) Have you been adopted yet? "
