Harness the 'Power of the Ocean' Saturday

The fundraising event for The Sarcoma Alliance will feature original ocean photography, food, drink, film and music.

Ocean enthusiasts and those who want to wipe out cancer will want to check out the 2013 Power of the Ocean fundraising gala to benefit The Sarcoma Alliance on Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Kiwanis Club of Hermosa Beach.

The gala will include food and drinks from Kona Brewing Company, the live music of Kapali Long, the story of world-class paddleboarder Jamie Mitchell in the movie Decade of Dominance, original photography by Manhattan Beach resident Ken Pagliaro and a short clip about the Catalina Classic by Chris Aguilar and Fin Film Company.

The Sarcoma Alliance fundraiser is put on by The Ocean of Hope (O2H), their exclusive fundraising organization. O2H consists of paddlers and ocean enthusiasts who use their training and racing as a means of outreach, support and hope, according to online information.

O2H puts on paddleboard and outrigger-canoe races across the country to raise money and awareness for cancer patients and their families. The Power of the Ocean event gives local the chance to help raise funds for O2H's work.

Tickets are $10 online or $15 at the door. You can also donate to the organization online.

Freedom is based on a sure identity, that I know who I am, but more importantly WHOSE I am. WhenRead More the LORD sent Moses to deliver His people, that was the beginning of their liberty. They were a particular people to the LORD, whose name is better understand as "He who was, is, and always will be." Not a god made of stone or wood, but the One who made, makes, and evermore makes and gives to us: the LORD took Israel by the hand and led them from bondage to slavery. Not who you are, but whose you are, makes all the difference between bondage and liberty: "For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father." (Romans 8: 15) Have you been adopted yet? "
