Heat Records Broken Left and Right Today

UCLA, Long Beach Airport, LAX, downtown L.A. all saw their highest highs for May 14 smashed to smithereens.

Several record-high temperatures were set today in the Southland,

  • 96 degrees at Los Angeles International Airport, breaking the old record of 87 set in 1967
  • 99 degrees at downtown Los Angeles/USC, breaking the old record of 96 set in 1890
  • 101 degrees at Long Beach Airport, breaking the old record of 93 set in 1970
  • 96 degrees at UCLA, breaking the old record of 87 set in 1979 and tied last year

And in Colorado, 650 miles away, it snowed heavy on Monday. Tempting to drive it in one day just for the fun of it.

Maybe this is another example of climate change and maybe it's not. But the question is, how bad does the weather have to get before you believe the earths normal climate is changing? Maybe 10 days of triple digit heat, or would it take a famine in the U.S. because the crops do not have enough uninterrupted normal weather? What's your limit?
