Hermosans Give Thanks

Residents talk to Patch about how there is more to the Thanksgiving holiday than heaps of food and football.

Hermosa families are already preparing for Thanksgiving dinner next week, as some relatives fly into town early and buy the ingredients for rib-sticking dressing or finger-licking pumpkin pie.

But locals have learned that the special holiday is not all about the turkey. Along with the food, "I'm thankful for my Dad and all my friends," said Hermosa youngster Sebastian Serrano.

Jack Walter, who is visiting town from Florida, told Patch that his daughter just gave birth to a beautiful baby. "I'm a grandfather, and that's what I'm incredibly thankful for," he said.

Besides bonding through courses of garlic mashed potatoes and yams, Hermosans plan to observe Thanksgiving Day by volunteering and giving back to the community. Watch the accompanying video to find out what makes Thanksgiving special for Hermosa Beach residents.
