Kiwanis Trees to be Blessed

The Hermosa Beach community organization will sell Christmas trees at its lot for the 25th straight year.

The holiday season is upon us and with it comes a blessing Wednesday of the Christmas trees in the Hermosa Beach Kiwanis Club Christmas Tree Lot. The trees will be blessed by a reverend from St. Cross Episcopal Church, said Paul Amarillas, who co-manages the lot along with his wife, Yvonne, "ensuring special holiday tidings."

The lot, located at the corner of Pier Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway, opens Friday, Nov. 23rd for its 25th consecutive year of having wonderful premium trees for sale. Varieties include the beautiful Noble and Douglas Fir trees, fragrant Rosemary trees, living trees, and colorful wreaths, garlands and door swags. The lot is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the lot go right back into the community supporting charities such as PS I Love You, Sunshine Kids, Children’s Miracle Network, American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Project Touch, Easter Seals Disabled Program, Red Cross Blood Drive, Hermosa Beach School District, Beach Cities Toy Drive, Hermosa Beach Parks and Recreation Programs, special needs populations, emergency disaster relief, pediatric trauma, numerous school projects, and scholarships for kids, according to Jane Walker, HB Kiwanis public relations.
