Landmark Hermosa: Kay Etow Park
If you guessed the Kay Etow parkette for this morning's trivia, you were right.
A small park that sits on the corner of Monterey Boulevard and Herondo Avenue in Hermosa Beach was named after late resident Kay Etow.
Kay, a founding member of the , died in 1974. The park was established a few years following in her honor, according to an article in the Easy Reader.
In 2007, a rededication ceremony was held at the park with Kay's family and community members in attendance, according to the Easy Reader, which also reported that just a few days following the ceremony Kay's husband Eizo Etow died at age 87.

Eizo, who was also an active Garden Club member, owned a nursery in Hermosa Beach. A plaque and tree were planted in Kay Etow Park in Eizo's honor in August 2007. The plaque reads:
"This tree is planted by the Hermosa Beach Rotary Club in honor of our 26-year member and executive secretary Eizo Etow, Hermosa Beach businessman, nurseryman and good friend, husband of Kay Etow, for whom this park is named."
