Maureen Hunt Named Professional of the Year

The Hermosa Beach Rotary Club fetes Hunt for her work as executive director of the city's chamber of commerce and volunteerism.

Maureen Hunt, the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce executive director, has been named the 2012 Professional of the Year by the Hermosa Beach Rotary Club.

Hunt was honored at the club’s weekly luncheon last Tuesday.

Hunt, who was named to the HB Chamber executive director's post in December of 2011 after serving as its interim executive director, was selected for her "high ethical standards and integrity" and for being a "supportive and enthusiastic leader in the business community," according to the club, which also cited her many years of volunteer efforts with various charities. The club said Hunt is "making a difference in the community."

Hunt began as the chamber's office manager in 2003. Before that, she was the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce's communications director for four years. Prior to that, she was a successful business owner for 23 years as a North American Van Lines franchise owner.

Past recipients of the HB Rotary Club's Professional of the Year award include Steve Collins of Hermosa Beach Cyclery and Robb Fulcher of the Easy Reader.

Freedom is based on a sure identity, that I know who I am, but more importantly WHOSE I am. WhenRead More the LORD sent Moses to deliver His people, that was the beginning of their liberty. They were a particular people to the LORD, whose name is better understand as "He who was, is, and always will be." Not a god made of stone or wood, but the One who made, makes, and evermore makes and gives to us: the LORD took Israel by the hand and led them from bondage to slavery. Not who you are, but whose you are, makes all the difference between bondage and liberty: "For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father." (Romans 8: 15) Have you been adopted yet? "
