Drinking Fountain Coming to Greenbelt

A new drinking fountain will be installed on the local trail near 8th Street.

Hermosa Beach joggers and dog-walkers on will soon see a new drinking fountain along the path at 8th Street.

The City Council unanimously decided to direct city staffers to install a drinking fountain on the local trail that runs north-south through town.

"It would be a benefit to the Greenbelt," said Councilman Jeff Duclos at the meeting. "Cost is reasonable in my opinion."

When factoring in labor costs, the project would add up to between $9,000 and $10,000, Frank Senteno, director of Hermosa Beach Public Works, told the council (see accompanying city staff report under photo.)

There are a total of three drinking fountains operating on the greenbelt now—two are north of Pier Avenue, at Gould and Pier avenues, and the third is south at 2nd Street.

Senteno said that the new drinking fountain would even out this distribution, as it will be installed adjacent to just north of 8th Street.
