Surf and Sun Weekend Forecast

Sun, rain and swells as high as four feet are predicted for Saturday and Sunday.

Area beaches can expect swells to three feet by Saturday afternoon and as high as four feet on Sunday, according to website Surfline.com. In addition, the National Weather Service is forecasting a UV Index of 8 for Saturday.

The UV Index is a measure of the expected level of exposure to ultraviolet light at noon, when the sun's rays are at their strongest. An index level of 8 is rated high and means a person's skin could burn in as little as seven to eight minutes.

Saturday, northwest swells will gradually pick up, with bigger sets in the afternoon. Winds are expected to be fairly light, although picking up to 7 knots in the mid-afternoon.
