Weather to Be a Treat on Halloween

Predicted rain showers will leave town just in time for Halloween's arrival Sunday night, forecasters say.

In terms of the weather, Halloween weekend will bring the good and the bad to Hermosa, according to the National Weather Service.

The clear skies and warm temperatures Hermosans have recently enjoyed are expected to give way to unfavorable conditions Friday night and Saturday.

While a strong ridge of high pressure coupled with the famous Santa Ana winds brought favorable weather to town this week, a low-pressure system is forecasted to move into the Southern California area this weekend, bringing with it cooler temperatures and the potential for rain.

But thanks to Mother Nature's impeccable timing, forecasters predict that trick-or-treaters in Hermosa will not have to adapt their costumes to include ponchos and rain boots.

"Widespread rain can be expected across the region late Friday night and Saturday morning before tapering off," said the National Weather Service in a statement Thursday. "A slight chance of thunderstorms will also accompany the front Friday evening."

The statement continues to report that the weather system should move quickly through town with mainly a two to four-hour time period of moderate rainfall.

But come Sunday afternoon, highs for the Beach Cities are forecasted to be in the mid 60s, and then temperatures drop slightly to the upper 50s Sunday night. A 20 percent chance of rain is possible, and skies are expected to be partly cloudy.

The clouds will be enough, however, to keep the moon hidden, making extra caution necessary for both young trick-or-treaters and parents.
