South Bay's hottest bands are set for the D-Man festival, and the 10th anniversary of 9/11 is coming up. Here is a roundup of weekend events.
The annual D-Man Festival kicks off in neighboring Redondo Beach and America remembers 9/11. Here is a roundup of the upcoming weekend happenings:
Do the D-Man
Where and when: Seaside Lagoon, 200 Portofino Way, Redondo Beach; Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Why go: The live music lineup includes Tomorrows Bad Seeds, The Black Pacific, Hoist the Colors and more. Raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, is named after South Bay surfer Darren D-Man Marsee, who passed away from the disease in 2005.

Pianist Karine Poghosyan
Where and when: Trinity Lutheran Church, 1001 N. Rowell Ave., Manhattan Beach; Saturday, 2 p.m.
Why go: Poghosyan, who made her Carnegie Hall debut at the young age of 23, comes to the South Bay for a series of classical concerts. Saturday, she'll play in Manhattan Beach as part of concerts.

Fan Halen
Where and when: Saint Rocke, 142 Pacific Coast Hwy., Hermosa Beach; Saturday, 9 p.m.
Why go: It's Saturday night—get your party on with , a high-energy rock tribute act to Van Halen.

9/11 candlelight vigil
Where and when: 124 Sapphire St., Redondo Beach; Sunday, 7:30 to 8 p.m.
Why go: Bring a candle to Rev. Maitreya Bhagavan Friend's and pay respects to those lost in the 9/11 tragedy, as well as America's fighting men and women who have given their lives for this country.
Price: Free
Stop and remember
Where and when: Wherever you are; Sunday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Why go: Throughout the nation, first responders, houses of worship, and other establishments will sound sirens and bells every hour to stop and take a minute to remember those taken from us in 9/11.
