A Fiesta of a Memorial Day

A crowd of thousands of people packs the streets of Hermosa Beach for the city's annual arts and crafts fair.

A crowd of thousands of people packed the streets of downtown Hermosa Beach this Memorial Day weekend for Fiesta Hermosa, the city's annual arts and crafts fair.

Called the largest fair of its kind in Southern California, the event was organized by the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and included more than 200 vendors selling such items as paintings and handcrafted jewelry.

Conversation, laughter, music and the smell of barbequed corn permeated the warm, salty air as visitors traversed the rows of canopied booths.

Live bands blasted classic rock through giant speakers that carried the tunes for blocks. Children enjoyed a petting zoo while carnival rides and games whirled  nearby.

In the past, the fiesta has hosted about 120,000 sunshine-loving locals and tourists. This weekend's figures have not yet been released.

Freedom is based on a sure identity, that I know who I am, but more importantly WHOSE I am. WhenRead More the LORD sent Moses to deliver His people, that was the beginning of their liberty. They were a particular people to the LORD, whose name is better understand as "He who was, is, and always will be." Not a god made of stone or wood, but the One who made, makes, and evermore makes and gives to us: the LORD took Israel by the hand and led them from bondage to slavery. Not who you are, but whose you are, makes all the difference between bondage and liberty: "For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father." (Romans 8: 15) Have you been adopted yet? "
