Fiesta Hermosa, billed by organizers as the “largest arts and crafts fair in Southern California,” will take place in downtown this Labor Day weekend, Saturday, Aug. 31 to Monday, Sept. 2.
Staged by the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau, the fiesta offers something for everyone, from art to live music to kids' carnival rides to a charity beer garden to all sorts of food choices.
The event has been a local favorite since 1972, and has grown to include approximately 300 painters, photographers, ceramicists, jewelers, sculptors and crafters. There’s also a concert lineup that features live music on two stages. You can see the complete concert schedule online.
The food court features 18 types of grub, including Thai, Greek, Mexican and the always-popular tri-tip sandwiches. The Charity Beer Garden will return this year, with proceeding benefitting local nonprofits. If you’ll have small ones in tow, be sure to checkout the Kiddie Carnival’s 30-foot slide, mechanical rides, games, pony rides, petting zoo and face painters.
Parking in Hermosa Beach is always at a premium, so take advantage of the free shuttle buses, which will run daily from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. from the Northrop Grumman Building O4 at 15092 Aviation Blvd, near the intersection of Aviation Blvd and Marine Street in Manhattan Beach.
You can also ride your bike to the festival, and then park it in the free guarded lot on the sand just south of the Hermosa Beach Pier. Hermosa Cyclery will valet park your bike, and offer air for tires and on-site diagnostic checkups while you enjoy the festival. The lot is open from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily.
Leashed dogs are welcome at the event, but they won’t be allowed on shuttle buses or in the beer garden.
