Hermosa Gets Ready for Its Fiesta

The Memorial Day weekend event features art for sale, live music, diverse food and drink and a petting zoo for the kids.

Banners and booths are already being set up downtown for this weekend's which showcases some of the best local art, music and food. The festival has been a part of the city's Memorial Day weekend celebrations for the past 37 years. Here's a look at the big attractions to come:

For visitors who like to shop, street blocks will be lined with more than 270 vendors selling paintings, pottery and photography as well as handcrafted jewelry and wind chimes.

Festival goers looking for music should head to the stage on Pier Plaza and another one at 11th Street and Beach Drive, which will feature bands throughtout the weekend.

For those looking for food, diverse offerings await. Tamales, crepes, barbecue and gelato will be sold as well as Greek, Thai and Italian dishes. Keep an eye out for a booth manned by Hermosa Beach lifeguards, who are known for their fish tacos.

To wash it all down, Union Cattle Co. microbrews will be poured at the charity beer and wine garden.

For the youngsters, a Kiddie Carnival will include a petting zoo and rides.

Parking will be free at the Northrop Grumman lot at the intersection of Space Park and Doolittle drives. A free shuttle bus will run from the lot to the Fiesta from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
