Style Hermosa: A New Boutique Carries Fall Trends

A new gem has emerged on Pier Avenue, Turquoise. The boutique, located on the corner of Pier Avenue and Loma Drive, serves as a branch of the flagship store in Manhattan Beach. 

"A reason why I opened a store here is because I'd like to offer an exciting shopping experience" to the Hermosa Beach customer, said Kana Uemura, Turquoise co-owner. "Unique and beautiful clothes always make me feel better and more confident ... I'd like everyone to have [the] same experience."

Uemura and Shelby Kariya opened the first Turquoise boutique in Manhattan Beach in December 2009. Within one year, their success at that store inspired them to open another shop here in Hermosa Beach last month.

June Park who regularly shops at the Manhattan Beach location said that she's glad the store expanded to Hermosa.

"I shop at Turquoise because the selection is so fresh, so new," Park said. Clothes that she normally would have to buy on popular shopping avenues, such as Melrose, which "is too far of a drive," are available at Turquoise, she said.

Kiki Yoshioka, Hermosa Beach store manager, and co-worker Elly Sakiya, said that the following must-have items are what they predict will be popular in the store this fall season: 

• Utilitarian and military style is a major fall trend. Try a pair of army pants from Current Elliott in combat green, or a skinny cargo pant from J.Brand. This popular look can be worn with any type of shoe.
• Short boots are the current trend, and essential for fall. Try Dolce Vita fur-lined ankle boots (pictured below). 
• Baggy and slouched silhouettes will make an appearance this fall. A loose shirt from Wildfox or Brandy&Melville can we worn off-the-shoulder comfortably. Fluxus also has a charcoal cardigan that is perfect for beachside fall weather.
• For accessories, the latest collection from House of Harlow 1960, Nicole Richie's jewelry line, provides the best options. Shoppers can also never go wrong with Soixante Neuf statement rings (pictured below). 
• Even in the fall, beach city shoppers still need sunglasses. Invest in a pair of Dita over-sized rectangle or square-shaped shades (pictured below) to complete the perfect autumn look.
