Surf Fest Kicks Off Tonight With Film Fest

Short film festival kicks off celebration of Hermosa Beach Surf Culture tonight and Saturday.

Films and a party will kick off this year's Hermosa Beach Surf Fest, which continues through Saturday with live bands and the annual Induction into the Surfer's Walk of Fame.

Tonight's film festival, sponsored by the Hermosa Beach Historical Society, will feature three films, including an annual update on surf culture that was still being edited as late as Thursday.

"It's a really great family get together," said Chris Miller, the museum aid for the Hermosa Beach Historical Museum, adding that tickets for the film festival only cost $5 for kids and $10.
