Women's Film Festival Returns to Hermosa Beach

This year's Lunafest included 11 titles, with proceeds benefitting the Breast Cancer Fund and Soroptimist International Manhattan Beach.

Award-winning short films elicited tears, laughter and insight Thursday night at the Hermosa Beach Community Theatre. A national traveling film festival, Lunafest showcases films about and directed by women. Director Jen McGowan attended the event and introduced her feature title, Touch, one of the 11 films chosen for Lunafest.

"Film making is about people," McGowan said. "It's about connecting with people and understanding people."

Soroptimist International of Manhattan Beach hosted Thursday night's festival. Ticket proceeds benefit both the organization and The Breast Cancer Fund.

  • The Translator, Sonya Di Rienzo

The Lunafest event was a tremendous success! Thanks to all who came to see the films, meet Jen McGowan and support SI Manhattan Beach and our core projects, as well as the Breast Cancer Fund. It was a really great night for all the ladies and gentlemen in attendance. We will see you again next year in April!
