Alligator Meat on Pier Avenue: Who Knew?

In the same block, we found two places to eat gator.

Granted there's probably no burning need to eat alligator, but isn't it good to know where to find the southern dish in Hermosa Beach? And one might expect to find gator at New Orleans Cajun Cafe, where they serve all things Cajun.

But alligator tacos at Los Muchachos Mexican Restaurant?

"It's very good," manager Manuel Ruiz said Thursday. "People love it."

Ruiz said his boss, who also owns New Orleans Cafe, has it shipped fresh frozen. Sometimes, he said, it needs a bit of tenderizing before he grills the gator meat with onions, peppers, cilantro and seasoning.

Gator nuggets for kids and prepared blackened or grilled, the alligator meat entree can be found in one block of Pier Avenue.

Even more interesting is their fairly new menu addition: chicken and waffles for $7.99, which Ruiz said he's been advertising with a new sign.

Freedom is based on a sure identity, that I know who I am, but more importantly WHOSE I am. WhenRead More the LORD sent Moses to deliver His people, that was the beginning of their liberty. They were a particular people to the LORD, whose name is better understand as "He who was, is, and always will be." Not a god made of stone or wood, but the One who made, makes, and evermore makes and gives to us: the LORD took Israel by the hand and led them from bondage to slavery. Not who you are, but whose you are, makes all the difference between bondage and liberty: "For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father." (Romans 8: 15) Have you been adopted yet? "
