Gas Prices Up, Then Down

Prices are up compared to a week ago, but the streak in increases ended today.

A six-day streak of increases ended today when the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County fell one-tenth of a cent to $4.232.

The average price rose 5.3 cents during the streak, including four-tenths of a cent on Sunday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. Gas at Hermosa Beach's two stations, as reported on the AAA site, is priced on both sides of the county average, with the Arco station at 1131 Pacific Coast Highway at $4.16, and gas at the Mobil station, 931 Pacific Coast Highway, at $4.30.

Despite today's slight drop, the average price is 5.2 cents more than a week ago. However, thanks to a 35-day streak of decreases before the increases began, it is 6.5 cents less than one month ago and 5.7 cents lower than one year ago.
