Beach Camera Finds New Home at Mermaid

The camera that streamed live online video of the ocean for 14 years from Hennessey's will relocate to the Mermaid.

The camera that used to stream live online video of the Hermosa Beach surf from rooftop has found a new home at on the Strand, said Hermosawave founder Daniel Sofer on Tuesday.

Internet company Hermosawave owns and operates the camera, which had been providing live online video of the local beach for 14 years from Pier Plaza.

"Everybody has different things they want to look at. Some people want to see the surf, others the Strand," Sofer about the camera's beach view.

The camera was moved from Hennessey's last month due to construction soon-to-begin at the restaurant. Now the camera could operate from Mermaid as early as October.

"Very happy to announce that the Hermosawave WebCam has found a new home, at the Mermaid. Hoping to go live at the beginning of October," Sofer tweeted Tuesday morning.

So glad to hear the HermosaWave camera will be back up soon. The live feed keeps me smiling here in Miami, so I can see how my future home is looking while I'm at work.
