Hermosa's Unemployment Rate Remains the Same

The local rate has been hovering between 5 and 6 percent.

Los Angeles County's jobless rate slightly increased to 13.1 percent in January, according to a report released Friday by the California Employment Development Department (see accompanying document).

It was about 13 percent in December.

California's seasonally adjusted jobless rate was 12.4 percent in January, down from 12.5 percent in December.

It's up slightly from the 12.3 percent rate from January 2010, according to the state Department.

The U.S. Labor Department announced national numbers for February, with unemployment at 8.9 percent, and the addition of 192,000 non-farm jobs from the month before.

The worst drops were in retail trade and construction, according to the state Employment Development Department. The numbers are not seasonally adjusted.
