Jobless Rate in Hermosa Goes Down

The unemployment rate countywide also sees a decrease.

Hermosa Beach and Los Angeles County saw small decreases in their unemployment rates in December, according to figures released Friday from the California Employment Development Department.

After the city's estimated unemployment rate during the summer, it dropped to 5.2 percent last month.

The county's unemployment rate slightly decreased from 11.9 percent in November to 11.8 percent, according to numbers that were seasonally adjusted.

The state's unemployment rate also fell, reaching 11.1 percent, a drop from 11.3 percent in November, according to the Employment Development Department.

Nationwide, the U.S. unemployment rate also decreased in December to 8.5 percent, the department reported. California's unemployment figures remain among the highest in the nation.
