There are many things that bother me about this crime. 1. The perpetrator identified is only 18 years old. AND on probation for another crime. That means that he probably committed his other crime(s) before the age of 18 as a juvenile. That's just sad and infuriating, all rolled into one. He was smart enough to dress in a shirt and tie, I'm guessing he's smart enough to do something else besides crime. 2. This robbery and assault (thank goodness, it's NOT a murder, although not because he didn't try to murder the clerk) took place about 17-18 days AFTER a robbery at the local Rite-Aid on Aviation. About a block from the smoke shop, by the way. I'm a bit concerned about these two crimes occurring less than a month apart, about a big block apart. No, I realize the Rite-Aid robbery did not result in anyone being hurt, but . . . where are the police and what are they sayiing about these crimes occurring close in both space and time? I know we are all involved, especially those of us in the North Redondo neighborhoods nearby and we need to be on the watch for anyone who looks like they don't "belong" - and that brings up my third point. In both cases, the perpetrators have been identified as black males. Now, am I supposed to be more alert to black males in my neighborhood? I don't want to be racist, just safe. Again - what are the police suggesting? Would love to hear from RB and MB PD's here. Thanks!

Very sad. What the hell is going on. Why did he have to slit his throat? Hope they catch this scumbag!

No one knows what another person has suffered in their life. This is no excuse but this young man and his family has been through hell. For one his dad (Tyler's) was found murdered under the steps of the Pomona YMCA. This not an excuse but it had a profound affect on Tyler. That's just the tip of the iceburg. Have any of you walked in his shoes?
