My Fit Foods to Open Soon

A store representative says the healthy foods company is aiming for an end-of-February debut.

The healthy-eating company My Fit Foods soon will open a Hermosa Beach store, and its move to the community is "the perfect marriage," Jenny Smith, director of marketing for the company, told Patch on Friday.

The company aims to offer the busy Hermosa resident "basically fast food, but we’re a healthy alternative. We’re pre-packaged and pre-portioned," Smith said about the meals and snacks offered at the store. "Every meal you’re going to get is going to be completely balanced."

Plus, the company is coming to Hermosa Beach during the same time the community aims to improve its health through the Vitality City initiative.

The Easy Reader reports My Fit Foods will sit in the PCH location that previously housed , which closed in August after 20 years of business. Smith told Patch she'll confirm that location at a later time.

But the Hermosa Beach store is aiming to open the last week of February, Smith said, and it will operate every day of the week. My Fit Foods has other locations in Houston, Austin, Dallas, San Antonio and Phoenix, according to its website.

Once the Hermosa shop opens, Smith recommended to try the lean ground turkey chilli with stew vegetables and black beans.

"It’s amazing and especially around the time of year when it gets kind of cool at night, it’s perfection," she said.

Smith also recommended the hummus bowl as a snack. "It’s marinated chicken breast with red pepper hummus and a couple of fresh veggies," she said.

My Fit Foods founder Mario Mendias wrote in a letter on the company's website that "There is a formula for everything we create, which includes weighing every single ounce of lean proteins, measuring the amount of low glycemic carbohydrates, and healthy fats."
