Project Taco Opens on Pier Plaza

In its first week of business, Project Taco brought 'em in, racking up rave reviews on Yelp as the "gourmet snack shop" served up tacos in some pretty wild, if not unheard of, flavor combinations.

Thai Peanut Chicken, The Lox, Hermosa Hummus. These are tacos. Apple-Kale Coleslaw, Bean & Cucumber Salad. These are two of the sides.

For Owner Nick Fontova, who was on site opening the joint Monday, Project Taco is on its way.

The Hermosa Beach resident told Patch that neighboring businesses have welcomed them [Frosted even brought cupcakes]. "It's like a family already," said the Hermosa Beach resident.

The snack shop is open daily from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m., with bar patrons swinging by to grab some food and water or coconut water before heading home, he said.

But bar patrons aren't the only customers. Fontova already has a regular, wihtin a week of opening, who stops by for The Lox. He also has tons of friends who are familiar with the the hours of taste tests he and his buddies have held.

On Monday, Fontova opened around 11:30 a.m. thanks to a busy weekend that set his normal opening time back about 30 minutes.

Imagine being that busy!
