Seen in Town: Another New Restaurant in Highland Park?

The former Smokin' Bones location in Highland Park may become the home of a restaurant yet again.

On Monday morning, Patch received an e-mail from reader Courtney Mykytyn, asking what manner of construction was taking place at the former location of the Smokin' Bones Restaurant on North Figueroa Street, across from the Arroyo Seco Library.

"I noticed that there was some construction being done inside the old Smokin' Bones," Mykytyn asked. "It is such a great location--across the street from the library--and it is such a shame that it has been empty for so long."

Patch was first tipped to the work being done at the Smokin' Bones location more than a year ago by another reader. When we inquired about what the future might hold for the location at that time, plans were still unclear.

Now, it appears that the location will once again be home to a restaurant.

A crew member named Joe that was working on the location on Monday afternoon said that a new restaurant was indeed being planned.

No opening was imminent, Joe said, but he expected the renovation of the interior to be completed in approximately one month.

As for what style of restaurant the former Smokin' Bones may become, Joe said possibly Italian. However, there was the possibility for a chain like Carrows to move in as well.

I agree nonoise. And we need term limits on EVERYBODY not just on the President. All those fossils in Sacramento are laughing at all of us. I don't understand why people keep voting without thinking things through. Seems like no one reads their voter ballot.

If your talking about Art his problem is he wanted 51% of the business and he wanted control of the menu. If you were regular you will that first page of the menu was the same for everyone that tried to run a restaurant there.

One thing HLP is a gang tag from the 70's and 80's from the Highland Park boys. It's H.P. one other thing it's Northeast Not North East!
