Shop Hermosa Sidewalks This Summer

A summer sidewalk sale downtown is to kick off Aug. 20, followed by the sixth annual Taste at the Beach on Aug. 21.

For one weekend in August, Hermosa Beach's downtown streets will be lined with racks of boutique sale items and tables of special shopping deals. 

The Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce will host a from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m Saturday, Aug. 20, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21.

"There are many new businesses down here that are very excited about the prospect of a summer event for South Bay residents that will showcase our new downtown Hermosa," said co-owner Lori Ford in an e-mail.

Restaurants will be participating in the weekend promotion, according to the chamber, and the event will include two bounce houses for children, live music, and free bike valet service.

Taste at the beach

The sixth annual  will follow the sidewalk sale Sunday, Aug. 21, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the .

Each year, the Hermosa Beach Kiwanis Club hosts the wine and food-tasting event along with a silent auction to raise money for local charities and the community.

This year proceeds will support Kiwanis-sponsored charities, such as the , , and  among others. 

Taste at the Beach  last year.

"What started out six years ago as a small wine and food tasting fundraiser to benefit the Hermosa Historical Museum has emerged as one of South Bay's most anticipated beach parties," said event Chairman Bob McEachen in a statement Sunday. "I can't tell you how many people have told me they can't wait until Taste at the Beach comes around each summer, they actually plan their calendars around it."
