City's Former Police Chief Announces City Council Run

Former Hermosa Beach Police Chief Greg Savelli will officially launch his run for a City Council seat with a "Campaign Kick-Off" on Thursday, June 27th at the Beach House Hotel. The event will last from 5-8 p.m. in the Pacific Room.

In January, Savelli left his position as police chief to take a job as chief of the Los Angeles Department of Transportation's parking enforcement division for the City of Los Angeles. He'd been Hermosa Beach's police for around five years.

Three City Council seats will be determined in the November election when current council members Howard Fishman, Jeff Duclos and Patrick "Kit" Bobko's terms expire. At Tuesday night's council meeting, Fishman said he will not seek re-election. Instead, he will travel for two years, then run for a seat.

Said Savelli, after announcing his departure, "I have very much enjoyed my time in Hermosa Beach. The City Manager, City Council and the community have been very supportive of all my efforts to enhance the Police Department."

Reservations for the kick-off event are suggested, and can be made by calling (310) 906-7021 or emailing Savelli4Council@aim.com.
