A local artisan dies in a tragic fire and the city continues big plans to go green. Plus, a party crasher!

Fatal Fire

Hermosa Beach native and gallery owner Linda King died at the age of 69 last week after her Aviation Boulevard store caught fire. The blaze damaged both King's Gallery and the vacant building next to it, at 1081 Aviation Blvd. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.

Green Listing

Efforts to turn Hermosa Beach into the first carbon-neutral city in the South Bay continued to grow this week. Brad Bartz, ABC Solar founder and president, announced that the solar installation company will be opening a new location at 344 Pacific Coast Highway.

Party Crasher

Secretary of state candidate Orly Taitz interrupted her opponent, Republican Damon Dunn, while he was speaking at a Tea Party meeting at the Church of Christ on Aviation Boulevard Tuesday night. She openly accused him of committing voter fraud. South Bay Tea Party leader Gary Aven asked the uninvited guest to leave, but she refused.

Senior Center Opens
