L.A. Gas Prices Hit Memorial Day Records

The record high stems from closures of refineries in Southern and Northern California.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County set a record today for Memorial Day, $4.299, despite declining for 12 consecutive days.

The record high stems from a 17.9-cent increase over a seven-day span earlier this month caused by low inventories from the closures of refineries in Southern California and Northern California for maintenance.

The average price has dropped 11.2 cents over the past 12 days, including six tenths of a cent today, and is 6.4 cents less than one week ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

However, the average price is 11.3 cents more than one month ago and 22.6 cents higher than one year ago. The previous Memorial Day high was $4.062, set last year.

The Orange County average price also marks a Memorial Day record, $4.266, breaking the previous record of $4.034, set last year.

The Orange County average price has decreased for 12 consecutive days, including a half-cent today, and is 7.6 cents less than one week ago, but 11 cents more than one week ago and 21.8 cents higher than one year ago.

Freedom is based on a sure identity, that I know who I am, but more importantly WHOSE I am. WhenRead More the LORD sent Moses to deliver His people, that was the beginning of their liberty. They were a particular people to the LORD, whose name is better understand as "He who was, is, and always will be." Not a god made of stone or wood, but the One who made, makes, and evermore makes and gives to us: the LORD took Israel by the hand and led them from bondage to slavery. Not who you are, but whose you are, makes all the difference between bondage and liberty: "For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father." (Romans 8: 15) Have you been adopted yet? "
