Patch Roundup for 405 Closure

Lanes on the 405 Freeway begin closing Friday night—Patch compiles some of the latest news and announcements regarding what has been called "carmageddon."

Los Angeles County for so-called "carmageddon"—a 53-hour closure of the 405 Freeway—and it's now just moments away.

Lane and ramp closures are scheduled to begin Friday night, and the freeway is expected to reopen by 6 a.m. Monday.

County and local officials have warned residents to avoid traveling this weekend as the closure will cause traffic delays in the Los Angeles area.

The 405's northbound freeway will be closed between the Santa Monica (10) and Ventura (101) freeways so that half of the Mulholland Bridge can be demolished. The southbound freeway will be closed from the 101 Freeway to Getty Center Drive.
