Hundreds of locals and tourists spent a sunny afternoon in Hermosa Beach for the Fourth of July celebration Sunday. During the day, crowds of 20-somethings barbecued and flaunted red, white and blue attire on the beach.

Beach volleyball pick-up games were common, as well as impromptu live entertainment. Hermosa Beach police officers monitored The Strand closely as the beach gradually filled with visitors throughout the afternoon.
