Rain On Its Way; Snow, Too
The National Weather Service is predicting rainfall in L.A. County Saturday night and Sunday.
Snow could fall on the Grapevine soon, as rain, snow and gusty winds are predicted to arrive Saturday night and spread across Southern California Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
The latest NWS forecast called for possible snow on Interstate 5 north of Los Angeles, and Interstate 15 in Cajon Pass, developing midday Sunday and rolling through the Monday morning commute.
Another Pacific low pressure system was expected to move through Southern California late tonight through Sunday night, which was likely to lead to precipitation along and west of the mountains, the NWS said.

Rain was expected to start falling on the Central Coast late today, then spread into Los Angeles and Orange counties overnight and on Sunday morning. Lingering showers were expected in the mountains Monday morning.
The snow level was predicted to be at the 5,500 foot contour Sunday morning, dropping to 3,500 feet above sea level Sunday and Monday.

In the Los Angeles area, rain levels were expected to be near a quarter inch, with up to a half inch falling in wetter locations next to mountains. Forecasters also said there was a slight chance of thunderstorms Sunday afternoon and evening.
"The main period of precipitation for most areas is expected Sunday morning," according to the NWS. "Showers will linger, mainly near the mountains, into the afternoon, decreasing and ending from the north Sunday night."
West winds in the mountains and deserts were also expected, with gusts that could reach about 45 miles per hour Sunday afternoon and evening near mountain ridge tops, along desert mountain slopes and into adjacent areas.
The wintry weather could cause problems for motorists in the Angeles National Forest, San Bernardino Mountain resorts, near Idyllwild and along Interstate 8 and other mountain roads in San Diego County, the NWS said.
"Driving through the mountains may be difficult at times due to locally reduced visibility, slick roads, strong winds and snow," according to the NWS.
Fair weather should return Monday, forecasters said.
