Record-Breaking Heat Expected to Lessen

Hermosa Beach residents might experience some late night and morning low clouds Monday into Tuesday.

A high-pressure system brought above-normal temperatures to Los Angeles County Monday, but relief is forecast for Tuesday.

The temperature, which shattered several area records Monday, is expected to cool down by about 10 degrees, said Bonnie Bartling, a weather specialist with the National Weather Service.

"We have a low pressure coming in and we're going to have late night and morning low clouds along the coast and possibly at LAX," she said.

She predicted that "some of the sea breezes will come back, and we will continue to cool Wednesday and Thursday."

Temperature records were shattered in Lancaster and the Antelope Valley, and tied in Burbank. The previous records were set in 1976.
