Reminder: Daylight Saving Time Begins

You know the routine—set your clocks forward Sunday.

Prepare to set your clocks— starts Sunday at 2 a.m., when most of the nation sets clocks ahead one hour.

Daylight saving time ends in November when clocks are set back one hour.

Setting our clocks forward has the effect of creating more sunlit hours in the evening during months when the weather is the warmest, according to the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Daylight saving time was introduced in the U.S. in 1918, and then the Energy Policy Act of 2005 extended the length of daylight saving time in 2007 as an effort to reduce energy consumption, according to the institute.

The U. S. Department of Transportation oversees the country's time laws, according to its website.
