Residents Add Their Voices to City's Future

The city of Hermosa Beach is trying to engage residents and business owners in a process that will help lead the city forward in the years to come.

Some 75 residents attended a city-sponsored Community Dialogue meeting Monday night in the Little Theater, a part of the Hermosa Beach Community Center, 710 Pier Avenue.

In an interesting twist, public officials and City Manager Tom Bakaly were encouraged to not attend so residents and business owners could feel free to speak. Monday's meeting is the first in a series of "discussions to enable the community to clarify its core values and to collectively determine what is important to the community," according to a city webpage.

"Between the kickoff meeting and mid-September, the community will have the opportunity to complete online surveys, hold smaller group meetings, and attend two larger group meetings (August TBD and September TBD)," according to the same city webpage.
