Small Quake Clusters Common Offshore

Such temblors are normal this time of year in Hermosa Beach, a seismologist says.

Two earthquakes with a magnitude of higher than 3.5 shook South Bay residents  June 7 , but the frequency of temblors this month is not unusual, said Kate Hutton, staff seismologist for California Institute of Technology in Pasadena. More earthquake clusters are expected this summer, as they're common within the offshore Palos Verdes fault zone in Hermosa Beach, she explained.
