County and local officials to prepare for a weekend closure of the 405 Freeway. Hermosa Beach City Councilman Peter Tucker told residents in a council meeting Tuesday to "get on your bicycle, go through the city on your bicycle, frequent all the businesses," he said.

36th Congressional District election

Los Angeles City Councilwoman Janice Hahn Tuesday night. She had 54.6 percent of the vote, defeating local businessman Craig Huey's 45.4 percent. About 22 percent of registered voters in the district turned out to cast ballots.

Business License Tax Committee’s plan

The Hermosa Beach City Council on Tuesday decided 4-1 to move forward with preparing the to be placed on the Nov. 8 municipal election ballot. A resolution to place the proposed ordinance on the ballot will be considered at the next council meeting on July 26. A rival measure has already been approved for the ballot.
