Patch interviewed local beach-goers about their thoughts on a Los Angeles County decision to reduce the open hours of the public restrooms on the beach this summer due to budget cuts. "Budget problems being what they are, we need to make some choices," said Hermosa Beach resident Steve Golob in the video. "I'll leave it up to the people who have a complete scope of the situation."

Downtown Banner Space

The Hermosa Beach City Council to continue studying policy options regarding street-pole signage along Pier Avenue and other local areas. The council and Burrell agreed that the banner space provides a creative way to display public art in the community.

School on Wheels

Patch editors across the country are given five paid work days throughout the year to devote to volunteering in the community they cover. Hermosa Beach Patch editor Jacqueline Howard decided to spend tutoring homeless youth with the nonprofit organization School on Wheels in downtown L.A.

Steppin' Out

The , which encourages residents to walk more, kicks off in Hermosa Beach on April 26. Each year the Beach Cities Health District and local schools compete in the project. This year students will be equipped with pedometers to track their steps. The community with the most steps walked wins.
