Hermosa Beach saw the first-ever Henry Pearson Classic this week, and two CVS thefts.

Los Angeles County celebrates Cesar Chavez Service Week, and the race for the 36th Congressional District seat continues with a certified list of 16 candidates.

Cesar Chavez Remembered

Cesar Chavez Service Week and was celebrated countywide. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors annually recognizes civil rights activist Chavez by proclaiming a week in his honor and volunteering in the community.

Henry Pearson Classic

Mira Costa High School won doubleheader, beating out El Segundo 11-1 and 4-3. The classic was held in memory of former Mustang Henry Pearson.

CVS Crimes

Hermosa Beach police are searching for a man suspected of stealing items from two local CVS stores—the shop on PCH and the one on Pier Avenue. show the alleged suspect to be a Hispanic man between 20 and 30 years old with short brown hair wearing a grey sweatshirt.

16 Candidates

Secretary of State Debra Bowen, who also is a candidate in the election,  that 16 candidates will appear on the May 17 ballot in the primary election for the 36th Congressional District. None of the Democratic candidates by the California Democratic Party.
