The Hermosa Beach City Council in a meeting Tuesday night decided 3-2 to allow a community garden to grow in the northeast corner of South Park. A demonstration garden already sits in the small section of the park.

Beach volleyball tryouts

USA Volleyball has announced this year's schedule of high-performance tryouts for athletes looking to compete on beach volleyball national teams. The tryouts are set to kick off here in Hermosa Beach.

Gas prices rise

Gas prices shot up this week in Hermosa Beach and the rest of the county. "If prices continue to increase at this pace, most areas will have averages above $4 a gallon in the next few week," said Auto Club of Southern California spokesperson Jeffrey Spring in a statement.
